If Team McBride ride at Kempton chances are they will get a wide draw and this was the case on Thursday evening in a CL5 6F handicap. Under Hayley Turner, Broughton’s Flare broke well from stall 12 and joined from race as turned at the fist corner, dropping in towards the rear off the field in the ensuing charge for position. She held position as they turned for home 3 out and the leaders fell away quickly entering the final furlong. She looked to have every chance but was unable to quicken when asked finishing just 2 1/2L 7th of 10 runners as passed the winning line in a heap. Favourite Busby, who seemed to be struggling 2 from home, had just enough all out to get up by a neck from Secret Potion with Top Boy, who was finishing best, a head 3rd. 6F looks a bit sharp for Broughtons Flare on this track.
