Team McBride edged towards 20 winners for this year when Steve Donohue delivered a superb final furlong last to first win on Blausee at Wolverhampton on Wednesday.
After finishing down the field over a mile in a warm nursery at Kempton last time. as suggested, connections chose to drop her back to 7F where she was previously successful at Yarmouth. They were duly rewarded thanks largely to Donohue who arguably produced the ride of the week. One Hart led them round off a decent pace considering the Tapeta surface was riding slow, and Blausee dropped to the rear of the field and remained there as they turned to home 2 furlongs with the leader making a good fist of trying to make all. However Blausee was pulled out to get a free run towards the stand rail and made good use of it with a blistering run which take the race with her last stride by a short head with Good Job Power a head 3rd. On this form she may make another entry before getting a deserved break.
An hour later Chiarodiluna completed her 3rd run thus enabling her to go handicapping, with a promising 5 1/2L 7th of 13 runners behind Queen Gamrah in a Cl6 Novice Stakes mile at Kempton. Drawn wide she was dropped in by Nicola Currie and although never near challenging, showed ability in the final 2 furlongs making good progress on the far rail.
Out of the Fallen Angel family which includes stablemate Vampish, the pedigree is crying out for further and she looks a good 3yo prospect in the making.
