Team McBride will have been pleased to see the end of this week after both Fountain of Life & Vampish put in dismal performances at Chelmsford and Wolverhampton.

On Thursday Fountain of Life featured in a CL6 2M handicap in which Michael Stoute’s 1/6 on Favourite Jeweller justified her price by winning at a canter by 3 3/4L from Que Quieres. Whilst not expected to win, a place seemed perfectly feasible, but after making his way through to 2nd 12F from home Fountain of Life soon fell away badly once passed 3 from home eventually tailed off between 52L.

On Friday evening Vampish returned to the track after a short break from her very disappointing 2nd in a Claimer where on ratings she should have won in a similar manner to that of Stoute’s win on Thursday. Upped in trip to 2M and ridden somewhat differently this time, Vampish tucked in behind the leaders but as the field quickened she was soon off the bridle and fell away beaten 6th of 7 runners by 29L from Selino who crucified the field from well over 2 furlong out, easing down to win by 10L from Charlie D who in turn had 6L on 3rd Sir Prize.  Vampish has had a hard season with this her 12th run, seems to have gone over the top, and deserves a good break.
