Team McBride had 3 runners over the weekend and, given their respective chances in each, as expected none were able to feature at the business end.

Debutant Cheerful was first up on Friday evening at Newmarket. The daughter of Toronado out of Isla Azul finished a distance behind Subaana who quickened away 2 from home to beat Loving Glance by 1 1/4L with Magical Rhythms a 1/2L 3rd. It started to go  Pete Tong from the off when she was slowly away and although she made ground she was soon struggling at the hallway point. Having only been in training 3 months she is entitled to run green and will no doubt benefit from her education.

On Saturday Vampish found the step up to Listed class to much to handle in the 12F Chalice Stakes. She looked a picture in the ring and was going as well as any of the field until class took over 3 from home and she quickly fell away finishing over 30L 6th of 8 runners behind Love so Deep. The winner rated 26LB better than Vampish justified her 100 rating winning convincingly by 2L from Bella Vita with Shambolic a length 3rd.

Later that afternoon Fountain of Life featured in a CL6 10F handicap at Chelmsford. The son of Garswood was backed into a short of 4/1 during the day despite having shown little in his previous 4 runs. He was slowly away and as such struggled to lay up and looks to need further. He was beaten into 6th place, 5 1/4L behind Muraaqeb who took things on a furlong from home to win narrowly by a head from Chakrii with Bader 1 1/4L 3rd.
